Here are the most common types of referral programs:
1. Account Activation Campaign (using an Account Identifier): For brands with customers that have a unique identifier such as account number, phone number, or customer ID. Referrers and Referees are validated based on this account identifier. New customers open an account or subscribe to a service and referrals are approved if Referee account identifiers are valid and their account activation date is within the Grace Period and the Offer Period.
2. Account Activation Campaign (using a Match Key): Similar to Account Identifier, for brands with customers that have a sensitive unique identifier that cannot be shared with RewardStream. As a result, Referrers and Referees are validated based on a combination of 3 pieces of uniquely identifiable information such as first name, last name, date of birth, house number, zip code/postal code, etc. Referrals are approved if Referee match keys are valid and their account activation date is within the Grace Period and the Offer Period.
3. First Purchase Campaign (using a Coupon Code): For brands with customers that make purchases from. RewardStream can use coupon codes to tie referrals together. Upon claiming an offer, Referees are given an offer code (coupon code) that they use at the time of purchase. Referrals are approved if the offer code is marked as used and a qualified purchase is made.
4. Basic Referral Campaign: For brands that want their referred leads to perform an action outside of making a purchase or opening a new account (such as joining a newsletter, requesting a consultation, etc.), you can use the Basic Referral Campaign simply mark a referral as approved when that action is complete. Referrals are approved when you manually approve them and the date the action was completed is within the Grace Period and the Offer Period.
