You can choose whether or not you want to issue rewards for both parties, just your advocates (those who made the referral) or just the people who were referred to you.

We do tend to discourage one-sided rewards as you want to incentivize your customers to make referrals by offering them a reward and you want to incentivize people being referred to you to make their first order from you with their referral code.
If you decide to go with one-sided rewards, we recommend offering rewards to people who are being referred to you to incentivize them to make their first order with you. If you do not offer an incentive for first purchases, people who are referred will not have a reason to use their referral code and we wouldn't be able to track the referral to reward the person who made the referral.
